It is one of the most appreciated games. Indoor bowling is the game which is preferred by all age groups. When winter season comes around, this game is preferred to be played outside the homes. Outdoor bowling is slightly difficult as compared with indoor bowling. Indoor bowling is a kind of simulation of outdoor bowling in which green strips, which are of similar lengths to lawn bowls rinks, are ingratiate inside the house. These green strips are called as bowling carpet or short mat. In indoor bowls, one has to throw bowl on the aim and with each hit player gets the reward. There are slight change of rules and condition in indoor bowling game as compared to out door bowling.

There are two types of indoor bowls game based on the type of green strip which is use. These are as follows-

Carpet bowls - This kind of indoor bowls are generally played in local social centers and local meeting places. This game is useful to generate revenue for village halls and this game has a potential to bring different local community together.

Short Mat bowls - Like many other pubs games, it is a smaller version of out door bowls. Short mat bowls has become the one of the most famous game in Ireland and Britain. It is played on the mat measuring 40X6 feet with full sized bowls.
